Here are a few things that you will need in your dental kit;

Pain Reliever

It is important to have some over-the-counter pain relievers in your kit. This includes medicine such as ibuprofen or Tylenol. Any type of orthodontic treatment is bound to cause some level of discomfort therefore, you are going to need some pain reliever.


A toothbrush is a vital item in your survival kit. When food gets stuck in your braces, it puts you at risk of gum disease and cavities. Thus, having a toothbrush with you will help you get rid of any food particles that may be stuck in your teeth. You should also get a small travel-sized toothpaste for your kit.


Even though flossing can be a tedious task for people with braces. It is imperative to include it in your kit. This is because flossing helps to remove the food particles that may be stuck in between teeth that a toothbrush cannot dislodge. You should also include a floss threader in your kit to make flossing easier.

Orthodontic Wax

This item is important for when the braces cause irritation to your lips, tongue, and the inside of your cheeks. It acts as a barrier between the rough surfaces of your braces and the inside of your mouth, thus reducing any form of discomfort.

Lip Balm

This may seem like an unnecessary item in your survival kit however, you need to include it. This is because, during your orthodontic journey, your lips become more dry than usual. Thus, you will need to keep a lip balm in your survival kit.

It is also imperative that you include a bottle of water in your kit. Water is very beneficial to your oral hygiene. This is because, apart from keeping you hydrated throughout the day, it helps to dislodge any food particles that may be stuck in your teeth and braces.
