With our unwavering commitment to ensuring a healthy bite and a stunning smile for every patient, let’s delve into the essential role that retainers play in maintaining the results of your orthodontic journey.
Why Retainers Matter
Types of Retainers
These are the classic, removable retainers consisting of a durable wire that holds your teeth in place and an acrylic base.
A more discreet option, clear retainers are made from a transparent, custom-molded material that snugly fits your teeth.
Permanent or Bonded Retainers
These are thin wires that are discreetly bonded to the back of your teeth and are often preferred for their low maintenance.
After the active phase of orthodontic treatment, you transition to the retainer phase. To ensure a long lasting smile and healthy bite, Dr. Bastian takes a personalized approach, using state-of-the-art digital planning tools to design retainers that perfectly fit your new, unique smile.
At Sullivan Bastian Orthodontics, our commitment to your orthodontic success doesn’t end when your active treatment phase is complete. We continue to lead the way in providing top-tier care by offering retainers that are tailored to your unique smile.
As the first office to introduce innovative treatments in the Mill Creek area, we’re proud to set new standards in orthodontic care. Dr. Bastian’s expertise in using advanced technology guarantees that your retainers are designed with precision, ensuring the longevity of your beautiful, healthy smile.
Retainer Tips & Best Practices
Wear your retainer day and night for at least the first six months after you’ve finished treatment. Dr. Bastian will monitor your teeth and instruct you on any changes to the retainer protocol.
Use a toothbrush and toothpaste to clean food particles and plaque from your retainer. You can also soak the retainer in a denture cleaner, but daily brushing is essential.
Whenever your retainer is not in your mouth, it should be in its case. The case helps prevent damage and loss.
One More Tip
As you age, there’s a chance that your teeth may undergo slight shifts, even with consistent retainer use. This is a typical occurrence, so there’s no need to be concerned. If necessary, we can easily make adjustments to refine your smile.
Your orthodontic journey is a reflection of our commitment to your care, and the retainers we provide are an integral part of that journey. Trust Sullivan Bastian Orthodontics to guide you through every phase, from your initial consultation, treatment and finally through the continued maintenance of your stunning smile.
